Each year at its annual winter fundraiser, the Detroit Chapter collects wild game meat donations from the fundraiser attendees in exchange for raffle tickets for a specific hunting tool such as a gun, bow or optic.
The donated meat must have been professionally processed by a licensed meat processer, must be vacuum packed and must be thoroughly frozen. Then as part of its Sportsmen Against Hunger program, the Detroit Chapter donates the collected meat to the local Salvation Army.
The amount of meat annually donated to the Salvation Army under this program is 1000 to 2000 pounds.
